Who We Are
Mary's Brigadeiro is a black woman led business with the mission of realizing Mary's dream of sharing moments of happiness, joy and fun through her chocolate creations through Canada's vast multicultural influence.
Mary started her entrepreneurial journey back in December, 2014 as a young immigrant to Canada, then she realized that nobody did it before as Brigadeiro was something totally new to Canada, then the journey started, Jason came on board years later and now we are leading an ever-growing team of Brigadeiro enthusiasts who have a love for great handcrafted chocolates.
What is a Brigadeiro?
Brigadeiro is a composition of condensed milk, a good quality of real butter, pure 100% cocoa powder and fine chocolate plus natural ingredients for a variation of flavours to a perfect balance of sweetness with different variations.
The process to make the Brigadeiro is cooking and mix all these ingredients in a specific time and temperature, after a few hours, the mix is completely cold and our team of Chocolate Heroes hand-roll each one by hand into fine sprinkles. The texture is the key for a perfect Brigadeiro as it reminds us a creamy truffle, but it's a little bit chewy like a caramel and intense as a fudge. For a great Brigadeiro experience it should be enjoy fresh once received.
"Nothing is similar with Brigadeiro and if you've never tried it before, Brigadeiro will be a new experience in loving chocolate. Trust me :) Mary"

Our Roots
The Inspiration for Mary's Brigadeiro
Growing up in Sao Paulo, Mary discovered her passion for chocolate in a small kitchen alongside her mother 'Dona Branca', who taught Mary her family recipes, techniques and how much a love for great food contributes to the quality and experience.
In Brazil the 'BRE-GA-DE-RO' represents happiness as they are always enjoyed among friends and family as they share in moments of fun and much laughter bringing joy. They are also found at kids birthdays parties, but nowadays you can find Brigadeiros with sophisticate ingredients and at specialize chocolate boutiques around the country.

Opening Our Doors
Mary's Brigadeiro opens its first chocolate store
We opened our first physical flagship store in August 2018 right in a beautiful Danforth community in the East End of Toronto, after several years of sharing our brigadeiros online, at local markets and rent a commercial kitchen.
This milestone marked our transition into our very first brick-and-mortar space, where customers could finally experience Mary’s Brigadeiro creations in person.

Dragon's Den
Mary's Brigadeiro on The Dragon's Den - Season 14
In 2019, Mary's Brigadeiro stepped into an invitation opportunity to pitch for Dragon’s Den to share our story and our brigadeiros with the country.
It was a defining moment for us — one that challenged us to dream bigger, stand confidently behind our vision, and take Mary’s Brigadeiro to the next level showing case to millions of people what Mary's Brigadeiro is all about... Now, you have to watch to see how it ended up for us.

Chef's Hall
Growing beyond - second chocolate store
As our community grew, more opportunities and possibilities came together and we expanded into downtown Toronto with our second location at Chef’s Hall - a upscale food space featuring only local food businesses.
This new kiosk space allowed us to bring Mary’s Brigadeiro creations to an even wider audience, connecting with locals and visitors alike in the heart of the city while continuing to share the flavours that started it all. This is the perfect location to bring home our creations or to surprise your team with chocolate gifts.
